GAUGE:
17 sts + 25 rnds = about 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
STITCH EXPLANATIONS sk2p Slip 1 as if to knit, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over - 2 sts decreased. ssk (slip, slip, knit) Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right needle; insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them tog - 1 st decreased. yo (yarn over) A yarn over (yo) creates a new loop on your needle and is worked by wrapping the yarn around your right hand needle. Do not use an existing stitch to make a yarn over. The finished yarn over will leave an open space (like an eyelet) in your knitting-that is part of this design.

Notes:
1. If desired, place a marker (use a color different from the beg of rnd marker) after each repeat of the st pattern the first time you work Rnd 2. On the following rnds, slip the markers on each rnd.
2. St pattern includes an increase (yarn over (yo)) to compensate for each decrease (sk2p, k2tog or ssk), the st count should always remain the same.
3. On every rnd, you should have 11 sts between the beg of rnd marker and the first marker; 10 sts between each of the remaining markers. Be sure to count your sts on each rnd!
Cast on 101 sts. Place marker for beginning of rnd. Join by working the first st on left hand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle, being careful not to twist sts. Rnds 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15: Knit all sts. Rnds 2, 4, 6 and 8: K1, *yo, k3, sk2p, k3, yo, k1; rep from * to the end of the rnd. Rnds 10, 12, 14 and 16: K2tog, *k3, yo, k1, yo, k3, sk2p; rep from * to the last 9 sts of the rnd, on these last 9 sts work k3, yo, k1, yo, k3, ssk.
Rep Rnds 1-16 four more times (so that you have worked a total of 80 rnds). Bind off.
